~ George would read his bible on his knees with his Greek new testament and his Matthew Henry commentary. He was a competent Greek and Latin student.

~ While at Oxford George met John and Charles Wesley as they were all part of a group that met called the Holy Club.

~ In gathering to himself a small group of believers this group became the first Methodist society.

~ It was George Whitefield who was the founder of the Methodist church.

~ Benjamin Franklin estimated George could be heard by clearly by thirty thousand people at one time while preaching.

~ The more popular George became the more his opposition grew. He was slandered, mimicked on London stage and obscene songs were written about him. But he ignored it and continued to exalt Christ.
